Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26th, 1991) is better known under her stage name Ari Lennox is an American artist and singer hailing who hails from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist affiliated with J. Cole's record label Dreamville Records. Her first single was released with the label on October 21 2016 with the title Pho. It was then that she began gaining fame. The album that she released as her debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox has released her music online since 2012 with her release of her first mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. In 2014, she dropped more music via the Internet including Bound. She appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes and on Sweat It Out on July 21 in 2015. The following year, her music began to circulate all over the Dreamville group as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some possible references for Rihanna.
